Dear Dunecrest Families, As part of our on-going technology initiatives, and to provide the best learning experience, and online safety for students at Dunecrest American School, we will be implementing a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution as an enhancement to the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. The MDM solution will improve the management of student iPads and MacBooks during school hours with an added layer of security for the school network. Students will be unable to use non-educational apps and games during the school day. Dunecrest educational apps will be updated automatically. As the school continues to grow, this solution will help us provide the best learning and teaching experience for both students and teachers. Some of the Key Benefits: - The MDM system can restrict usage of non-educational apps during school hours, students will have access to their personal non-educational apps after school hours.
- The MDM system can install or update apps/software remotely on the student's device.
- Students will have better connectivity to the school WiFi.
- An optional ScreenGuide tool will allow parents to manage features on the iPad (such as Screen Time, sleep hours, restrict apps/content).
Installation of the MDM solution on all student devices is now a requirement in order to access the Dunecrest network. Steps to Enroll iPad: - Backup your iPad and save data (use Google Drive, iCloud, etc.) Click here for instructions.
- During the registration process for student iPad, the iPad will be completely erased and the new MDM system and all school apps will be installed and set up.
- Once devices are returned to the students, they can sign back into their cloud accounts (Google Drive, iCloud, etc) and reinstall their previously deleted apps and bring the iPad back to its normal status.
- After enrolling the iPad on the MDM system, parents can download a free app called ScreenGuide to monitor/manage their child's educational iPad at home. For more information about ScreenGuide, please click here. To watch how to use the app, please click here.
Steps to Enroll MacBook: - Backup your MacBook and save data (use Google Drive, iCloud, etc.) Click here for instructions. This is for precautionary purposes, your data will not be deleted from your MacBook.
- Bring to the school IT staff. The new MDM system will be installed and set up.
