FYI for MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Dear Dunecrest Families, 15 September 2021
In the next two weeks our students from KG2 to Grade 10 will be taking the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) tests. This standardized assessment measures students' academic performance level in the areas of Mathematics, Reading, Language Usage and Science. MAP Growth tests are unique in that they adapt to your child's level of learning. Although the tests are not timed, it usually takes a student one hour to complete each test. However, more than that time is allocated to each test in order to ensure students do not feel pressured and do their best.
The students will take these tests according to the following schedule,
For these tests, students in Grades 3 to 10 use their own devices (iPad or Mac), so they need to bring their device fully charged. KG2, G1 & G2 use school devices.
In order to increase your child's engagement in these tests, we are holding informative sessions and discussions with our students to better understand why we administer these tests, how to interpret the results, and based on that, set goals for future testing events.
If your child is not sick or quarantined, we kindly request that they attend school the days that these tests are being administered. Their attendance and your support are highly appreciated since this data helps us determine our students' instructional level and measure their progress in these four curriculum areas.
Once the data is processed, the results will be shared with all the parents via email. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Soledad Valenzuela International Assessment Coordinator
