NEW ASSISTANT SECONDARY PRINCIPAL &

COVID ATTENDANCE PROTOCOLS

Dear Dunecrest Parents,

I am delighted to inform you that Mr. Kurtis Trottier will join Dunecrest American School next year in the role of Secondary School Assistant Principal.

NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: MR. KURTIS TROTTIER

Mr. Trottier has spent the past 14 years in international education at schools here in Dubai, most recently, he held the position as Assistant Principal at the Universal American School.

Originally from Niagara Falls, Canada, Mr. Trottier holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing his Educational Doctorate with Wilkes University. Mr. Trottier will be joined at Dunecrest next year by his two young children Mason and Manley.

DUBAI STUDENTS EXPECTED TO BE IN SCHOOL FOR FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING

All Dunecrest students should have returned to school for face to face teaching. As supported by the KHDA, we will only be offering online lessons (remote learning) to those students who are off school for the following reasons:

  • When students test COVID positive.
  • When a student has COVID symptoms.
  • When a student has been deemed a close contact.

If parents keep their child(ren) out of school for other reasons, such as personal choice because they are worried about COVID, the school does not have to provide remote learning. This is mandated by the KHDA to ensure all students return to school unless there are COVID-specific reasons to be out of school (please refer to the list above).

We are hoping to receive an update about the latest guidelines by the end of this week. I will keep you informed of any changes to the guidelines.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Jeff Smith
