Can I visit outside the Open House?

Yes. If you cannot make the Open House, or you would prefer a one-to-one visit, you can book a personal tour with our admissions team.

Dedicated Early Learning Specialist for over 25 Years

Dedicated Early Learning Specialist for over 25 Years

Mrs. Crystal Mundell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education and Elementary Convocation from the University of Saskatchewan. She began her teaching career in Greece, working with English-speaking elementary students and providing private English lessons to ESL learners. She later moved to Abu Dhabi, where she served as a Grade Level Coordinator, leading her team to achieve curriculum standards across all core subjects.

In 1992, Crystal had her first teaching experience in Dubai, embracing the city’s vibrant culture—a connection that has kept her here ever since. A member of the Esol Education team since 2004, she also served as the Founding Early Childhood Principal at Dunecrest American School.

Crystal believes education is essential for building a strong foundation of understanding. She is dedicated to guiding students in developing the skills and knowledge they need to grow into thoughtful, contributing members of society.

JEREMY CRAMER, Elementary Principal

A Highly Experienced Senior Administrator

Mr. Jeremy Cramer is a highly experienced senior administrator having spent fourteen years in the role as Assistant Principal, Principal, and Superintendent/Principal in US schools and American International schools, including his most recent four-year tenure as Elementary Principal at Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Jeremy has a substantial amount of international teaching and administrative experience having worked in Dubai, Argentina, Hungary and Malaysia.

Originally from Indiana, but calling Colorado home since 1991, Jeremy holds a Master’s Degree in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. Jeremy's wife is currently an elementary school teacher at another school in Dubai and they have twin daughters.

DYLAN CARTER, Secondary Principal

Educational Leader Passionate about Fostering Independent Thinkers

Mr. Dylan Carter holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brock University in Canada, a Postgraduate degree in Education from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa, U.S.A. An international student himself, Dylan graduated from Jakarta International School in Indonesia and has since taught at schools across New Zealand, Canada, South Korea, and the U.A.E.

In 2012, Dylan joined Esol Education in Dubai, and in 2018 he became a founding administrator at Dunecrest American School. With experience teaching students from Grades 1 to 12, he is passionate about fostering independent thinkers and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Dylan has also led workshops for educators around the world, sharing his expertise and insights.

Outside of school, Dylan enjoys playing soccer and rugby, as well as scuba diving.

KURTIS TROTTIER, Assistant Secondary Principal

Mr. Kurtis Trottier hails from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and has spent the past fourteen years working in American international schools in Dubai. Over this time, he has held several key roles, including Secondary English Teacher, Athletic Director, and Secondary Assistant Principal.

With experience in schools rated “Very Good” and "Outstanding" by KHDA, Kurtis continues to support Dunecrest’s growth and success in his role as Secondary Assistant Principal.

Kurtis holds a Bachelor’s degree from Guelph University, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Edith Cowan University, a Master's Degree in Education Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa, and is currently pursuing his Educational Doctorate through Wilkes University.

Outside of school, he enjoys cooking, basketball, and golf, and is a proud parent of two children at Dunecrest.

What curriculum does Dunecrest follow?

Dunecrest follows a inquiry-based U.S. curriculum framework adapted for an international setting in line with the International Baccalaureate learning philosophy. Early Years uses the Creative Curriculum, and from Elementary onward Math and Literacy follow AERO Common Core Plus, Science follows NGSS, and Technology, Athletics, and Performing Arts follow ISTE, SHAPE America, and the National Core Arts Standards. As an IB World School, Dunecrest also offers the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12 alongside the American High School Diploma.
